Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the breakdown of thyristors by checking the discharge of the charges in capacitors to a main circuit side by connecting diodes to capacitors in series wherein discharging resistors are also connected to the capacitors in parallel. CONSTITUTION:A pair of capacitors 10a, 10b are connected in series with the AC side buses in a thyristor rectifier 16 respectively and doides 12a, 12b are also connected in series with the opposite terminals of the capacitors 10a, 10b in reverse polarity. And the connection points of the diodes 12a, 12b are connected to common fuses 14 for short-circuit protection. Furthermore, the connection points of a pair of the series-connected capacitors 10a, 10b are grounded respectively. In this way, the charges charged in the capacitors will be prevented from discharge to a main circuit side by the diodes and are discharged through discharging resistors 18a, 18b. Therefore, the breakdown of thyristors at the time of turning on the thyristors in the thyristor rectifier can be prevented.
