Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an electrolyte-impregnated layer which is excellent in wettability and liquid-preserving property, by maintaining a filler in a porous space of polytetrafluorethylene-porous matrix made of fiber and its node connected to each other by this fiber. CONSTITUTION:Polytetrafluoroethylene powder is mixed with a liquid lubricating oil to make a mixture, which is subjected to extruding, rolling or the like to form a sheet; this formed substance is then drawn, at least, to one axis direction to obtain a porous matrix having a microstructure which comprises fine fiber and the node connected to each other. This porous matrix is a sheet-like substance having the average hole diameter of 0.1-50mum, the porosity of more than 30%, the thickness of 0.02-2mm.. The filler such as silicon carbide, silica, alumina, tantalum oxide. titanium oxide or the like is maintained in the porous space of this porous matrix.
