Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a device small-sized, by detecting a variation of amplitude or frequency by a signal magnetic field by use of a magnetic reluctance effect type magnetic head whose detecting current is AC, and reducing a decrease of a reproducing output, in a domestic VTR device, etc. CONSTITUTION:An MR head 20 constituted by use of a magnetic reluctance effect element is connected to one side of an AC bridge circuit 22 to which an AC signal of an AC oscillator 23 is applied, through a rotary transformer 21. To a part of the circut 22, an element 25 constituted of an inductance and a resistance for balancing the bridge is installed. Oscillation frequency of the circuit 23 is selected to about 12MHz since frequency of a magnetic field applied to the head 20 is 2-6MHz. According to such a constitution, a variation of a magnetic field applied to an element of the head 20 executes an amplitude modulation as a variation of AC impedance, and a reproducing signal with fidelity according to a recording signal is outputted from an amplifier 24. Since the amplitude or the frequency modulation is detected in this way, a decrease of a reproducing output is reduced, and a device is small-sized.
