Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure specimens of smaller to large dimension and eliminate influence of filling coefficient and voids of measured specimens, by a method wherein radioistope to generate neutron and gamma-ray and a phosphor in a detecting element are employed. CONSTITUTION:Neutron and gamma-ray which emanate from a radioisotope 2 in a radiation device 3 are irradiated onto a specimen 1 to be measured, and the neutron and gamma-ray whicn penetrate the specimen are entered in a phosphor 5A. Light which emanates from the phosphor 5A is converted into electrons by a photomultiplier 5B, and the converted electron are led through a preamplifier 6 into delay circuits 7, 9 and attenuator circuits 8, 10. Output of comparators 11, 12 is converted by a synthesizing circuit 13 into plus width signal corresponding to time difference, and further converted by a conversion circuit 14 into crest value. The output is subjected to crest analyzing in a crest analyzing circuit 15 and separated into spectrum of neutron component and gamma-ray component, and correction of filling coefficient and voids is performed in a correction circuit 16 thereby moisture is determined. In this constitution, moisture can be measured accurately without limiting the amount of specimen.
