Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve ignitability of a fuel during cooling by selecting between the starting intake stroke and the initial stage of compression the fuel injection timing before warming-up of an engine is completed in a system of fuel injection into a combustion chamber from a fuel injection valve and igniting the vapored fuel.
CONSTITUTION: A combustion chamber 3 that has a cross section that is nearly shaped like heart and has its neck portion suqeezed is formed at the top of a piston 4 in a cylinder 5, so that the face of the combustion chamber is caved in. Fuel is injected toward the inner wall face of a combustion chamber 3 from a fuel injection valve 1, and the combustion chamber 3 is constituted so as to ignite the vaporized fuel with an ignition plug 2. In such an internal combustion engine a throttle valve 6 is closed in the cold time operation, and during the intake stroke low pressure air is led into the combustion chamber through an intake valve 13 with rotation given to the air, and the fuel is injected by a fuel injection pump 10 into the combustion chamber 3 through the injection valve 1 at a suitable time from starting the intake stroke to the preceding half of the compression stroke.
