Abstract
PURPOSE: When a glass tube is made into a circle to produce a circular fluorescent lamp, a heater is used to heat the outside surface of the tube while it is being bended into a circle around the drum to facilitate the bending and incrase the yield of the product.
CONSTITUTION: Glass tube 1 is set vertically and heated in the heating furnace. When the temperature reaches the softening point, the glass tube is taken out of the furnace and transferred to the processing position while the tube is kept vertical. The glass tube 1 is held at the lowe end with the chuck nails 22 on the bending drum 2 and the drum is made to rotate upward to bend the tube along the curved groove 21 on the drum until the bending is completed at the top end. During the bending operation, the heater 3 is set on the outside of the glass to be bended in the course of the drum coating up to facilitate the bending. The heater 3 heats the outside of the glass tube expanding for bending and prevents the damage and deformation of the tube.
