Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a pulse arc welding machine which eliminates the production of spatters during arc firing by applying high frequency voltage in superposition to the pulse voltage applied between a consumable electrode and base metals to generate high frequency electric discharge thereby inducing pulse arc electric current.
CONSTITUTION: First, switches for a high frequency power source 14, a pulse power source 1 and a power source of the motor in a wire feeder 5 are turned on to apply high frequency voltage between an electrode 4a and base metals 6. High frequency electric discharge is induced between the electrode 4a and the base metals 6 via the cable 4 on torch 3 side, a high frequency reactor 16 and a high frequency bypass capacitor 15, whereby high frequency current is flowed therebetween. During this time, the reactor 16 provides a high impedance with respect to high frequencies and the capacitor 15a low impedance with respect to high frequencies and therefore the high frequency voltage is applied mostly across the reactor 16. Hence, the high frequency voltage applied upon the power source 1 and the device 5 is attenjated to low voltage. As a result, the electric power source for supplying arc maintaining current is saved and the production of spatters during firing is eliminated.
