Abstract

PURPOSE: Titled polymer having low frictional resistance of rolling, high resistance on wet road surfaces and excellent breaking characteristics, containing butadienylmetal bonds.
CONSTITUTION: A high-vinyl bond content styrene/butadiene copolymer produced by polymerization with the aid of an organolithium compound in a hydrocarbon solvent, wherein (A) the content of a polymer containing, in the molecule, a bond between butadienyl group and a metal selected from the group consisting of Si, Ge, Sn and Pb is at least 20wt%, (B) the styrene content is 5W40wt% and (C) the vinyl bond content of the butadiene portion is 50W95wt%. The presence of bond A in the molecule provides excellent frictional resistance of rolling, and the bond between tin and butadienyl is particularly preferred from the viewpoint of this property and processability. Further, the breaking characteristics are improved by the presence of a proper amount of component B and the wet skid performance is enhanced by the presence of bond C.
