Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture various kinds of steel angles in various sectional shapes and sizes with a single rolling apparatus, by forming an intermediate shape with a combination of a two-high rolling mill having an open caliber and a universal rolling mill, and then, by finishing the shape with a triaxial roll mill. CONSTITUTION:A rough shaped billet W1 having a cross section, in which a projection is formed at its middle zone, is prepared by a breakdown rolling pass (a) and a roughing pass (b). This billet W1 is then subjected to an intermediate shape forming pass (c) wherein an open-calibered two-high rolling mill 4 performs an angle forming work for the flange connection part of a steel angle, and a flange's thickness and breadth forming pass. Then, a universal rolling mill 5, constituted of horizontal rolls 5a, 5a for holding the flange and vertical edging rolls 5b, 5b, forms the final breadth of the flange while preventing the overfilling at the angle zone, and carries out an edging pass. Thus an intermediately shaped billet W2 is formed, and it is finally finish-rolled (d) by a triaxial roll mill 6 into a product steel angle W3. The mill 6 comprises an upper vertical roll 7 and a horizontal roll 8.
