Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled catalyst capable of providing an ethylene polymer, etc. having improved stress cracking resistance and processing characteristics, by supporting a specific organo Ti compound and an organo Cr compound soluble in an inert hydrocarbon on a hydroxyl group-containing porous silica, etc., followed by calcining the compounds under specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A hydroxyl group-containing porous silica and/or silica alumina, (B) a tetravalent organotitanium compound (e.g., tetramethoxy titanium, etc.) containing at least one alkoxy group, soluble in an inert hydrocarbon (e.g., n- hexane, etc.) solvent, and (C) an organochromium compound (e.g., ditertiary- butyl chromate, etc.) are treated simultaneously in an inert hyrocarbon at ≤140°C, and the solvent is removed by evaporation. The treated compounds are heated to 300W1,000°C while being fluidized by an inert gas, and they are calcined while being fluidized by a dried oxygen-containing gas substituted for the inert gas.
