PURPOSE:To offer a magnetic head capable of both-sided recording by using residual magnetization perpendicular to the magnetic film surface of a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:Ceramic 22 is formed by uniting a recording main magnetic pole 19a and a reverse-side recording auxiliary magnetic pole 20b, and a top-side recording auxiliary magnetic pole 20a and a reverse-side recording main magnetic pole 19b on surfaces respectively. A thin Co-Cr magnetic film 18 has an easy-to-magnetize axis vertically, and a permalloy magnetic thin film 17 has easiness of magnetization horizontally, so magnetic flux runs as shown by an arrow while components running in a recording medium horizontally are much less. The auxiliary magnetic pole comes in contact with the medium with wide area, a magnetic field is small and never exceeds coercive force. Therefore, dresidual magnetization never remains. The residual magnetization is left by the main magnetic pole which comes into contact with a magnetic thin film 18 with extremely narrow area to perform recording.
