Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of the formula.
USE: A synthetic intermediate for cephalosporin antibiotic cephatrizin. The compound of the formula is readily isolated as crystals from an aqueous solution thereof and easily storable and handleable due to no hygroscopicity.
PROCESS: 5-Amino-1,2,3-thiadiazole is rearranged in the presence of one mole or more NaOH in an aqueous solution, and the reaction solution is then adjusted to a pH of 7W10 to recover the aimed resultant thiolate as a solid.
