Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid an electric shock by touching an electric contact in use by providing the electric contact exposed on the external surface of the main body of an eyepiece part and a movable protecting member which normally covers the said electric contact and moves back when an equipment to be connected is equipped. CONSTITUTION:An operation part 1 is provided with an eyepiece part 3, which consists of a mirror 32 and a camera eyepiece 33. A camera 27 is provided with an electric contact 34 which meets an electric contact 25 at an adapter 4 side when it is fitted to the adapter 4, thereby making an electric connection. Consequently, when the adapter 4 is not equipped, the sliding cylinder 16 of this endoscope is pushed out by the recoiling force of a compression coil spring 19. Therefore, the electric contact 22 is covered with the sliding cylinder 16 and not exposed to the outside, and when the endoscope is in use, e.g., in observation operation, there is no danger with respect to an electric shock caused by touching the electric contact 22 directly with a hand, etc.
