Abstract
PURPOSE:To protect a gate turn off thyristor GTO as well as to block the spreading of a short-circuit trouble for the subject inverter circuit by a method wherein the voltage applied to the GTO is reduced when the short-circuit trouble is encountered and an overcurrent is broken by the GTO. CONSTITUTION:When the inverter short-circuit trouble takes place, the overcurrent flowing at that time is detected, a thyristor 16 is turned on and an off signal is given to the GTO (GT01 and GT02). The current of a DC power source 12 runs to the GTO and the applied voltage on the input side when the GTO is in off-state is suppressed. Accordingly, the controllable current of the GTO at that time is sharply increased and an excess short-circuit current can also be broken.
