Abstract
PURPOSE:To change directivity solely by changing a frequency of an oscillating circuit and to enable substantial changing of a detecting area, by a method wherein a wide-band vibrator is employed by an ultrasonic generating means, and an oscillating circuit for driving the vibrator is constituted in the manner such that a frequency thereof is caused to change. CONSTITUTION:A transmitting vibrator 5 and a receiving vibrator 6 employ, for example, a transducer as a wide-band vibrator, and an oscillating circuit 3 is constituted such that a frequency can be changed arbitrarily. The oscillating circuit 3 forms a C-R oscillating circuit which uses two inverters G1 and G2, and a frequency is changed by a variable resistor VR1. Additionally, in an electrostatic transducer, directivity of a beam is decided by a radiation caliber, and a computation is performed like a half power angle theta1/2 against a frequency. In a formula, (d) is a radiation caliber, and lambda is a wavelength frequency. Thus, a frequency in the oscillating circuit 3 is set arbitrarily, and this permits the selection of an arbitrary size of a beam property having, for example, characteristics shown in a drawing, and permits the simple and sharp changing of a detecting area.
