Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve precision of position and speed information, by a method wherein a period of a position detecting signal is subdivided, and comparison is made on a level corresponding to each moving position. CONSTITUTION:A position detecting signal A is compared with a plural number of amplitude comparing levels of an amplitude comparing level set circuit 3 by a comparing circuit 4. The amplitude comparing level of the amplitude comparing level set circuit 3 produces a level corresponding to their respective positions into which the duration of one period of the position detecting signal is divided. A position detecting signal B is a signal which is different in phase by 1/4 period from the position detecting signal A, and the signal B is inputted to a comparator 8 of a moving direction detecting circuit 6 to compare it with a reference level. A tachopulse B from the comparator 8 and a change code from a comparing signal change detecting circuit 5 are inputted to an exclusive circuit 7 to output a moving direction signal SIGN. The signals are inputted to an up- down counting circuit UDC and a D-A converter DA to output position information. Finally, speed information is outputted from a frequency-voltage converting circuit FVC.
