Abstract
PURPOSE:To pick up automatically a target, by sweeping a gate signal on a time axis and set automatically the gate signal at a moment when a reflected light arrives from the target. CONSTITUTION:A pulse laser 4 is radiated from a pulse laser device 3 synchronously with a field synchronizing signal 2 which is delivered from an image pickup device 1 that can have a gating action. The signal 2 and a gate time width signal 12 delivered from a gate time width setting circuit 11 are fed to a delaying circuit 13. The time width set by the circuit 11 is referred to as tw, and the field in which a start signal 14 is fed to the circuit 13 from a start device 15 is defined as an initial field. In the n-th field, the laser radiating time point in each field is set as an original point of the time axis of each field. Then a trigger pulse 16 is delivered from the circuit 13. By receiving the pulse 16 and the gate time width signal 12, a pulse generating circuit 17 gives a gating action to an image pickup device during a period from time tn through (tn+tw).
