Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the responsiveness with a simple construction by attaching electrodes exclusive to detect internal resistance to a sensor. CONSTITUTION:A limiting current type oxygen sensor 26 has a positive electrode 3 provided on an oxygen ion conductor 2 and an electrode 23 for detecting internal resistance and an electrode 3 for detecting limiting current are arranged opposite thereto. Then, they are covered with porous layers 23 and 6. The potentials of the electrodes 23 and 4 are inputted into a potential difference amplifying section via a specified potential difference adding section, the outputs of which are separately connected to the electrodes 23 and 4 via a resistance and a resistance and a limiting current detecting section to control the input potential difference for amplification of the potential difference to be zero thereby correcting drop in the voltage due to internal resistance. This eliminates the need for compensating for the voltage drop detecting the internal resistance and the limiting current with a limiting current electrode, simplifying the construction while getting rid of delayed time.
