Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect the reference surface provided on the bottom surface of the pallet by a method wherein the planes for conveyance and the reference planes for working workpiece are provided stepwise on the lower surface of the pallet, on the upper surface of which the workpiece is mounted so as to be conveyed to a machine tool and to be set on the table of the machine tool with the workpiece as it mounted on the pallet. CONSTITUTION:The upper surface of the pallet P is composed of a reference surface 1, in which anchoring grooves of bolts for fitting the workpiece or jigs 2 are cut. The side surfaces of said upper surface are composed of reference surfaces 3. A rack 5 is formed at the center of the lower surace of the pallet P and engaged with a pinion in order to drive the pallet P. Carrying surfaces 6 are formed on the lower surface of the pallet P at both sides of the rack 5 in order to come into contact with guide rollers of a carrier touch and the like. Because the reference surfaces 7 and the carrying surfaces 6 are formed stepwise by a step with the distance l, the possibility of abutting the reference surfaces 7 against the guide rollers during transfer is eliminated, resulting in preventing the damage of the reference surfaces 7.
