Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent spatial restriction for installing a ram pump by forming the conduit for a ram pump into the spiral form in combination of curved pipes or of a curved pipe and a straight pipe. CONSTITUTION:A ram pump 2 is operated by connecting it to both a water supply source 1 and a conduit 3, and the proper length of the conduit 3 is considered about 8 times of the head (h). At first, curved parts were provided on the way of duct 3, supposing that it must be laid on the ground surface in mountaineous areas. Then the generated pressure due to hammering phenomenon was reduced. Therefore, if the conduit is formed into spiral form, the generated pressure may be increased, and the place of installation need not be spatially restricted.
