Abstract
PURPOSE:To maintain a constantly fixed spacing between a windshield or the like and the driver's seat and make better the field of vision and the driving position by a method wherein the locations of an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal can be adjusted in the front-aft direction by a slide device. CONSTITUTION:A pair of lower rails 6, 7 are fixed in the fore-aft direction and in parallel to each other on a floor 5 below a dashboard 4. Upper rails 13, 14 are slidably engaged with the lower rails 6, 7 through rollers, respectively. A supporting shaft 20 rotatably fitted to the accelerator pedal 18 and the brake pedal 19 is fixed between the upper rails 13, 14, and an auxiliary shaft 23 is fixed between brackets 21, 22 which are fixed to the upper surface of the rails 13, 14. The rails 13, 14 are forced backwards by a spring 26 and are locked at desired positions by a lock mechanism 28, which is operated through a rod 30 by an open lever provided at the driver's seat.
