Abstract
PURPOSE:To regulate beam scanning positions easily with high accuracy by providing at least a pair of two optical fibers in the position matched with the reference line of scanning lines, and making signal beams incident to these. CONSTITUTION:A pair of optical fibers 20, 21 are so determined that the line 22 connecting their respective end faces 20A, 21A comes to the position equivalent to a reference line 13. When the beam scanning position is correctly adjusted, the reflected signal beam 9 from a rotary polyhedral mirror 6 is made incident to either of the fiber 20 or 21. If the revolving axis 7 of the mirror 6 is inclined, the scanning plane is the plane 14A inclined from the correct plane and the inclined scanning line 10A is imaged on an image carrier 4. In such a state the reflected beam 9A is made incident to neither end face 20A nor 21A and therefore, it is possible to know from this that the axis 7 is inclined.
