Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled film-forming dispersion which, when spray-coated, shows sufficient mechanical stability, consisting of a specified aqueous dispersion of a cationic epoxy resin and an aqueous dispersion of a curing agent therefor.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous dispersion (A) of a curing agent for a cationic epoxy resin is obtained by mixing an amine selected from among a water-insoluble or -difficultly soluble primary or secondary amine and a modified amine compound (e.g., 4,4'-diaminodicyclo-hexylmethane) with a diglycidyl type epoxy compound (at a molar ratio of 2W1.05 amine: 1 epoxy compound), adding a high-concentration aqueous solution of a nonionic surfactant during the induction period of the reaction, adding water, reacting the mixture and adjusting the pH to 5W8.5. Then, an aqueous dispersion (B) of a cationic epoxy resin is obtained by mixing 5W1.5mol of bi- or higher functional glycidyl type epoxy compound with 1mol of the above amine, dispersing the mixture in water in the presence of a nonionic surfactant and adjusting the pH of the resulting product with an acid. At the time of use, 1 equiv. of component A is mixed with 0.5W1.5 equiv. component B.
