Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a visible image forming material from dropping due to an impulse and prevent the disorder of the visible image on a recording material, by bringing a backing member into contact with the backing part opposite to the side, where the visible image is formed of the belt-shaped recording material, and holding this backing member. CONSTITUTION:A backing member such as a backing roller 11 is brought into contact with the back part opposite to the side, where a visible image is formed, of a belt-shaped recording material 3 and is held. The backing roller 11 is compressed to the recording material 3 or is separated from it, and the backing roller 11 falls and is compressed to the recording material a little before the tip of a transfer sheet S strikes the recording material 3, and a prescribed tension is given to the recording maerial 3.
