Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve an optimizing control of the quantity of fuel, ignition timing, quantity of idle air and reflux of exhaust gas by detecting the quantity of infrared rays absorbed when it is irradiated on a sample cell into which an alcohol-mixed fuel is introduced and on a reference cell of fuel as base. CONSTITUTION:An infrared ray source 2 turns on by a power source 1. Infrared rays generated from the source 2 are intercepted with an optical filter 4 provided on a rotary sector 3 driven with a motor 5 on the side of a wavelength shorten than the proximity of 2.3mu. The infrared rays transmitting the filter 4 enter a reference cell 6 containing gasoline, for example, as base and a sample cell 7 containing a mixed fuel. The quantity of rays detected with light receiving elements 8 and 9 such as lead selenide is drawn as changes in the current and voltage enabling the detecting of the mixing rate of alcohol mixed into the fuel through a differential amplifier 10. This also can be used as correction signal for the supply level of fuel for the optimizing control of a system.
