Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to steer safely even at the time of a trouble occurring in a sensor by a method wherein a trouble judging circuit for a vehicle sensor is provided, and a valve is controlled by a trouble signal from the circuit so that the heaviness of a steering force becomes approximately equal to that required at the time of high speeds. CONSTITUTION:The trouble judging circuit 17 for the vehicle speed sensor 9 is provided in parallel to a circuit 16 for supplying a vehicle speed signal from an F/V converter 10 to a computing circuit 13. When the sensor 9 outputs an unreasonably low vehicle speed signal due to a trouble occurring therein under the condition wherein a shift position other than the forward first-speed position and the backward position is selected on a speed change gear 8, the circuit 17 operates a steering force control valve 15 to produce a steering force with such a heaviness as required at the time of high vehicle speeds, no sooner than the speed change gear 8 is set into a shift position which is other than the forward first-speed position and the backward position and in which a high-speed running is possible. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the danger of instable steering due to an insufficient steering force in the high-speed running.
