Abstract
PURPOSE: The titled dispersion useful as a material for forming a film, etc., having improved storage stability, obtained by dispersing a polyvinyl acetal prepared by reacting a modified PVA with an aldehyde compound in a solvent such as water, etc.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An aqueous solution of modified PVA obtained by copolymerizing a vinyl ester with an unsaturated monomer (e.g., acrylic ester, etc.) containing one or more carboxyl groups and a polymerizable unsaturated group or an ester wherein one or more of carboxyl groups are left, followed by saponifying it, is blended with (B) 0.25W1.0 (based on 1mol hydroxyl group in the component A) mole aldehyde compound (e.g., butylaldehyde, etc.) in the presence of an acid catalyst. 5W50wt% of the polyvinyl acetal is uniformly dispersed in a solvent consisting of water, and, if necessary, an organic solvent (e.g., methanol, etc.).
