Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the influence of an electrostatic image by short wavelength light upon a potential by providing an insulating layer, which absorbs light with short wavelength by image exposure, on a charge generation layer which has high sensitivity to light with long wavelength. CONSTITUTION:A charge migration layer 3 and a charge generation layer 4 are laminated, and an insulating layer which absorbs light having length shorter than that of light for image exposure is provided. For the formation of light-absorptive insulating layers 5 and 6, coloring materials such as dyes and pigments are dissolved in various kinds of resin for coloring. As the coloring materials, various kinds of resin for coloring. As the coloring materials, various organic and inorganic pigments and dyes are usable and one of them is selected on the basis of the wavelength of light to be absorbed. The charge generation layer 4 uses materials such as ZnO, Cd, S, Se, polyvinylcarbazole, etc. In the figure, 1 is a base, 2 is a charge-injected layer, and 7 is the insulating layer.
