Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure a wave peak value for an acoustic emission wave even if it is large enough to saturate the amplifier by calculating the peak value from a pulse measurement value that was obtained by using counters of more than two systems. CONSTITUTION:AE signal is detected by an AE sensor 2 that is installed on an object to be tested, and this AE signal is input through an amplifier to a low level comparator 10a and a high level comparator 10b. The outputs of the comparators 10a and 10b are measured for pulse by means of a low level up-down counter and high level up-down counter 11a and 11b, and their counting outputs n1and n2 are input to a peak value calculator 12. Then a peak value Vp is calculated at the calculator 12 from lnVp=(n1ln V2-n2lnV1)/(n1-n2), and it is displayed on a monitor 14 through an interface 13. With this arrangement peak values can be measured even for successive waves without influence of electric noises.
