Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a picture image having high resolution by constructing the electron beam control electrode such that the thin metallic wires are stretched densely and the signal voltage can be applied on each wire. CONSTITUTION:An oxide electron emission material 12 is applied on the surface of a tungsten wire 11 to form a linear hot cathode then a first grid mesh electrode 13 for taking out the electron beam from the hot cathode is arranged while facing with it. Thereafter the first and second electron beam control electrodes 14, 15 for controlling the passing and the passing amount of the electron beam are arranged. Said electrodes 15, 15 are constructed with a plurality of linear electrodes stretched in parallel on the same plane and secured to the cir cumference while maintaining the constant interval such that they are crossed perpendicularly. Furthermore second mesh electrode 16, metalback 18, phosphor layer 17 and a display 17 are arranged.
