Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of frictional heat and to reduce wear of bearings for a vertical shaft pump, by usig a bearing constituted by arranging a carbon bearing material and a rubber bearing material axially of the bearing surface of the bearing for journalling the turning shaft of the pump, so that solid lubrication is caused at the sliding surface. CONSTITUTION:A bearing 12 is constituted by arranging a carbon bearing material 12a containing a solid lubricant and superior in self-lubricating performance and a rubber lubricating material 12b superior in wear-resisting performance axially of the bearing surface. In case that the bearing is operated under waterless condition, solid lubricant such as carbon and molybdenum disulfide contained in the carbon bearing material 12a is sticked onto the surface of a turning shaft 1 and conveyed also to the sliding surface of the rubber bearing material 12b, so that not only the sliding surface between the turning shaft 1 and the carbon bearing material 12a but also the sliding surface of the rubber bearing material 12b are lubricated by way of solid lubrication. Therefore, it is enabled to prevent generation of frictional heat and hence to reduce wear of the bearing.
