Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure an assured binary coding of electric signals, by producing a floating slice level based on an effective region signal of the electric signal when the electric signal is binary coded. CONSTITUTION:The image pickup signal of a television camera in an image pickup system is supplied to an effective region discriminating circuit 41, a threshold value producing circuit 42 and a comparator 43 respectively. The circuit 41 discriminates an effective region from the image pickup signal and supplies the effective region signal to the circuit 42 functioning as an integral network. The circuit 42 produces a floating slice level 10 from the effective region signal and the image pickup signal and supplies the level 10 to the comparator 43. The comparator 43 compares the level 10 with the image pickup signal to obtain a binary coded signal. Thus the electric signal can be assuredly binary coded with use of a slice level.
