Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance hydrogen inducing cracking resistance of a welded structure, in using a steel material on which Al or the like is plasma sprayed, by a method wherein a specified area of a total plasma spraying surface area is not coated with plasma sprayed Al and welding is carried out at said specified area.
CONSTITUTION: In order to prevent a hydrogen inducing cracking phenomenon from being generated in a steel material used in an atmosphere containing H2S, Al less electrochemically noble than Fe is coated on a surface thereof by plasma spraying to prevent the generation of the hydrogen inducing cracking phenomenon. In using said plasma sprayed steel material, the plasma sprayed layer corresponding to 1/4 or less of a total surface area of said steel material is removed to expose steel free from said Al plasma sprayed layer and, in this condition, said steel material is used in an H2S containing atmosphere. Further, in welding said steel material, welding is carried out at a part free from plasma sprayed Al and, thereafter, said steel material is used without carrying out repairing plasma spraying. If said steel material is used in a H2S containing atmosphere, the generation of the hydrogen inducing cracking phenomenon is reduced extremely.
