Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform uniform and assured coating, in coating work for a vehicle, boiler or the like, by controlling a paint-spraying direction and a spraying time from a couple of coating guns located in parallel with the axial line of a workpiece, carried by a conveyer, along its onward movement.
CONSTITUTION: When a workpiece is mounted on a conveyer and carried at a fixed speed, a coater 5 movds up and down and right and left to coat the workpiece. The coater 5 is provided with a swinging mechanism 14 constructed by a rotary shaft 15, an arm 16 and cylinder means 17, 18. The arm 16 is provided with a couple of guns 21, 22 located in parallel with the axial line of the workpiece along its onward movement. A controller 39 discharges a switch signal to cylinder means-switching valves 32, 33 and paint-switching valves 37, 38 on the basis of a position signal from the workpiece, lets the guns 21, 22 swing constantly at a right angle to the workpiece, and lets the gun near the workpiece start and stop earlier than the other gum far from the workpiece do. Consequently, the fruitless consumtion of the paint is eliminated, and sags caused by excess paint is inhibited. Each of the switching valves is operated by pressurized air.
