Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a vertical head magnetic recording medium having no contact nor overlapping between magnetic patterns, by providing a magnetic layer whose magnetic permeability is high, on the substrate, and providing a magnetic recording layer having high coercive force and vertical magnetic anisotropy, on said magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A vertical heat (light) magnetic recording medium 13' consits of a substrate 13A, a magnetic layer 13B whose magnetic permeability is high, and a magnetic recording layer 13C having high coercive force and vertical magnetic anisotropy. A heat (light) beam from a heat (light) beam source 11 is focused on a recording medium 13, moving the recording medium 13 in the direction as indicated with an arrow. A part shown by a circle (a) irradiated by the hot beam reaches a curie point or above, is magnetized in the magnetic field direction from a coil 14, and while a heated part is moved by DELTAx and reaches a position of a circle (b), a shaded portion (c) drops quickly in temperature, and the magnetizing direction of its partis fixed so as not to follow the magnetic field. Accordingly, since it is possible to obtain a crescent-shaped and smooth pattern much smaller than a heat beam spot, there is no contact nor overlapping between magnetic patterns.
