Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a read error in case when a position of an original is shifted, by making read information of an original, etc. incident to a lens system of 1 system, dividing a luminous flux emitted from its lens system, into luminous fluxes in the respective different directions by an luminous flux dividing means, and reading these luminous fluxes by separate sensors. CONSTITUTION:A light beam from a loght source 2 is irradiated to an original 3, a luminous flux transmitted from the original 3 or a reflected luminous flux is made incident to a lens system 4 of 1 system, and the luminous flux from this lens system 4 is made incident to a beam splitter 5. This beam splitter 5 consists of a cube obtained by sticking each slanting surface of 2 right-angles prisms 5a, 5b, and on its adhesion surface, a semitransparent specular film 5c is provided. Subsequently, a part of a light beam emitted from the lens system 4 is read as it is by an image sensor 1a through the beam splitter 5, and the other luminous flux refracted in the right-angled direction by the semitransparent specular film 5c is read by other image sensor 1b, so that a read error is prevented when a read position of the original 3 is shifted.
