Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve magnetooptic recording medium with a good contrast of reproduction and small sized device, in which a magnetooptic thin film having the Kerr effect and that having the Farady effect can sequentially formed on both sides of the base. CONSTITUTION:Thin films 2 and 3 of a magnetooptic material of light reflection having the Kerr effect are formed on both sides of a base 1 with a method such as vapor deposition, and thin films 4 and 5 of a photo transparent magnetooptic material having the Farady effect are formed closingly with a method such as vapor deposition, and further, protective films 6 and 7 are added on them to achieve an objective magnetooptic recording medium. The obtained medium has a reproduction system simultaneously using the Kerr effect and the Farady effect as the reproducing means of a recording signal. In this case, the Farady rotating angle becomes twice as large because the same position of the magnetooptic material thin film is reciprocated by light, and the Kerr rotating angle is added, allowing to have excellent contrast of reproduction and easy detection.
