Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce fuel cost in the diesel main engine in such a way that exhaust gas energy from the diesel main engine is recovered as power, when it runs short of power, it is replenished by a power generator for driving the main engine, and when the power is in excess, it is appropriated to give support to the propeller shaft. CONSTITUTION:A synchronous rotary machine 15 is installed which is connected through an over-drive gear 3, a stepped speed change gear 21 and a constant frequency device 20 on the diesel main engine 1, and an exhaust gas turbo-generator 12 is installed which is connected to an exhaust gas economizer 4 to recover exhaust gas energy from the diesel main engine 1. Besides, in case where excessive generating power exists in the exhaust gas turbo-generator 12, the synchronous rotary machine 15 is driven as a motor by means of its excessive power, and where the gas turbo-generator 12 runs short of its generating power, its meager power is replenished by means of the power generated by the synchronous rotary machine 15. Thus, fuel economy and operation improvement can be contrived.
