Abstract
PURPOSE:To secure a cross section area and reduce the wave making resistance by making a stern with a wide ship bottom width almost equal to the ship width and also forming a dangling portion at a specific distance from the center. CONSTITUTION:The ship model has a stern shape with a width at the level of water line almost equal to the ship width up to the stern end, and a dangling portion 1 is provided below the ship bottom at a position separated from the hull center line C.L by one fourth of the ship width or more. According to this constitution, a cross section area is secured, deterioration of self-propelling elements, e.g., reduction of thrust or accompanying waves, is prevented from occurring as compared with conventional ship models, and such a shape is attained as to reduce the wave making resistance and also to have a rectifying action, resulting in reduction of wave crushing resistance and the viscosity resistance.
