Abstract

PURPOSE:To save labour for exchange of a sheave by a method wherein a worn out groove of an elevator sheave is machined in situ, and an insert ring is provided on a vestige of the groove, in a rebuilding method of a traction sheave for an elevator. CONSTITUTION:When a sheave groove 16 of a traction sheave 11 comes to its wearing limit, a machining device 17 is brought into the required location for securing on a machine bed 6. While the traction sheave 11 is being rotated by keeping a condition wherein the traction sheave 11 is fixed on a traction machine 5 as it is, the traction sheave 11 is machined by the device 17 and the vestige of the sheave 16 is enlarged for formation of an insert ring fixing groove 18. An insert ring 19 made of a high friction material is installed in the groove for rebuilding of the traction sheave of an elevator.
