Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance durability by a construction wherein the first magnetic body is provided at the tip of a free end of a column fixed at one end and the second magnetic body is suspended by a coil spring provided for the column, with a gap between the first and the second magnetic body, so that the two magnetic bodies are attracted by each other. CONSTITUTION:The first permanent magnet 7 embedded in an electrical conductor 6 is provided at the free end of the column 2, and the second permanent magnet 9 embedded in an electrical conductor 6 is suspended at such a position as to face the first magnet 7 by a coil spring 3, with a gap between the magnets 7, 9. The magnets 7, 9 are so positioned that their poles of different polarities are faced to each other to produce an attracting force. Accordingly, even when the free end is vibrated by an external force such as seismic forces, the phase difference between the movements of the magnets 7, 9 produces changes in the magnetic flux densities in the conductors 6, 8 so that eddy currents are generated in the conductors 6, 8 to prevent the conductors from contacting, thus resulting in a vibration-damping effect.
