Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a sheathed infrared optical fiber continuously without any defective, by forming a plastic-sheathed layer continuously, on the external circumference of a fiber wire made of a halide by the 1st extruder, by the 2nd extruder. CONSTITUTION:A rod-shaped material A pressed in the 1st extrusion molding device 1 is passed through a die 7 to obtain a fiber wire B with a prescribed diameter, which enters the 2nd extrusion molding device 2. The fiber wire B enters the taper space 12 of a guide member 13 and also moves to an exit 9 side along an extrusion line L2. A plastic material C supplied from a supplier 15 into a through hole 10 passes through a gap 10' and is molded by a die 14 to obtain a plastics- sheathed layer D, which moves to the exit 9 side. In the through hole, the plastics- sheathed layers D are laminated on the external circumference of the fiber wire B to manufacture an infrared optical fiber E.
