PURPOSE:To contrive to form in a compact type and to reduce man-hour of a transformer for AC-DC conversion by a method wherein at least a part of a tap winding for regulation of voltage connected in series to a winding on the AC side is connected in parallel to an exciting winding coupled electromagnetically with a winding on the DC side, and is used as an exciting winding. CONSTITUTION:The winding 1 on the AC side and the tap winding 41 for regulation of voltage connected in series to the winding 1 on the AC side thereof are wound around the A leg of core. While DC windings 2, 3 and exciting windings 12, 13 to be coupled electromangetically with the DC windings 2, 3 thereof are wound around the other B leg, C leg of core, and at least a part of the tap winding 41 is connected in parallel to the exciting windings 12, 13. The tap winding 41 is used both as the exciting winding on the A leg of core. Accordingly the A leg of core can be formed in the compact type, and at the same time, reduction of man-hour for winding and assembling of the A leg of core can be attained.
