Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain easily an adduct suitable as an ion exchange resin, etc. by reacting a compd. having nitrile oxide group with a crosslinked high-molecular compd. having an olefinic carbon-carbon double bond in the molecule.
CONSTITUTION: One mole of a crosslinked high-molecular compd. (A) having an olefinic carbon-carbon double bond in the molecule (e.g. a copolymer of an aliph. monovinyl monomer such as styrene or ethyl acrylate with a polyvinyl monomer such as divinylbenzene or butadiene as a crosslinking agent), is reacted with 1W 5mol of a compd. (B) having a nitrile oxide group [e.g. an arom. nitrile oxide of formula I (wherein X is a hydrocarbon group; n is 0W5) or an aliph. nitrile oxide of formula II (wherein R is alkyl)]. The reaction is carried out at 0W40°C in the presence of an inert solvent. The desired adduct is produced by the reaction shown in formula III.
