Abstract

PURPOSE: A low-cost woody type solid fuel having shape retention characteristics, easily ignitable characteristics, and easily combustible characteristics free from drip of a binder, obtained by thermoforming a composition comprising a ground cellulose type combustible material and a specific hot melt-type binder in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A composition comprising (A) 100pts.wt. ground cellulose type combustible material and (B) about 3W30pts.wt. hot melt type binder consisting of (i) an olefin type resin material[e.g., 2W12C α-olefin (co)polymer, etc.]and (ii) a bituminous material such as asphalt, pitch, etc. is thermoformed to give the desired solid fuel. The thermoforming, for example, is carried out at about 100W150°C under pressure condition of about 0.3W2ton/cm2.
