Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the battery life by initially charging an unformated plate fabricating lead-acid battery, when the current density is kept in high initially and in low later. CONSTITUTION:When an unformated plate fabricating lead-acid battery is initially charged, a current is flowed with a high current density suitable for the negative plate until the completion of initial charge of the negative plate, and then the current is reduced to flow a low current density suitable for the positive plate. The current density is 1A/dm<2> or more until theoretical charge of the negative plate attains to 100%, and then reduced to 1A/dm<2> or less, for example it is preferable that initially 1.5A/dm<2> and 0.5A/dm<2> later.
