Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent unnecessary operation of an actuator or the like of an engine speed controlling apparatus and to improve durability of the apparatus, by employing such an arrangement that a setting value of the vehicle speed, one of the conditions for controlling the idling operation, is varied according to the control conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A carburetor 3 is mounted on an intake manifold 2 of an engine 1. A contact signal 9 from an actuator 8 that is disposed on the side face of the carburetor 3 for opening and closing a throttle valve is applied to a control circuit 10. An ignition pulse 11 produced by an ignition coil 5 that is connected to the ignition plug 6 via a high-tension code 7 is also applied to the control circuit 10, and a control output 12 of the circuit 10 is affored to the actuator 8, thus completing a closed loop control. With such an arrangement, a setting value of the vehicle speed for starting control on the idling operation is selected to be low at the time of starting the vehicle but high at the time of stopping the vehicle, whereby it is enabled to prevent repetitive operation of the actuator 8 at the time of controlling the idleing operation.
