EXAMPLE: 5-Vinyl-2-1-norbornanone.
USE: An aromatic agent. Having better aroma than ethylidene normornanone, etc.
PROCESS: A compound shown by the formula II is reacted with an acid (e.g., sulfuric acid, formic acid, or acetic acid) at 0W100°C (preferably at 20W80°C to give an addition product, which is hydrolyzed at 50W150°C (preferably 60W130°C) to give a compound shown by the formula III. This compound shown by the formula III is oxidized in liquid phase at -20W130°C (preferably 0W110°C) to give a compound shown by the formula I.
