Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the existence of a sample container accurately with a smaller construction and prevent malfunctioning in the distribution operation by mounting a detecting rod to an arm for supporting a probe connected to a syringe through an elastic member in an analyzer for clinic use or the like. CONSTITUTION:This apparatus has a syringe adapted to suck or discharge according to a signal from a control circuit 14, an arm 10 moving horizontally or vertically according to a signal from the control circuit 14, and a probe 8 connected to the syringe 13 supported vertically by the arm. The probe 8 automatically sucks a liquid from a sample container 1 and a reagent container 18 and discharges into a reaction container 17 through linkage between the syringe 13 and the arm 10. Here, a detecting rod 7 is mounted on the arm 10 parallel close to the probe through a coil spring. Changes in the relative position between the detecting rod 7 and the arm 10 are detected with an optical detector 4 and the detection signal is transmitted to the control circuit 14. Thus, it is determined whether the reaction container 17 exists or not.
