Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an ultrathin film of polymer having selective permeability for mixed gases simply and readily, bt dissolving a polymer, e.g., olefin, etc. in a solvent containing a specific compound, followed by adding it to the surface of water.
CONSTITUTION: A polymer (e.g., polybutene, polybutadiene, etc.) consisting essentially of a polyolefin or diene polymer is dissolved in a solvent (e.g., hydrocarbon, chlorinated hydrocarbon) containing a compound selected from the group consisting of an alcohol, phenol, ketone, aldehyde, and amine to give a solution, which is added to the surface of water to form an ultrathin film on it. The compound is preferably solvent-soluble and water-soluble.
EFFECT: Transmitting a large amount of gas, the film is preferably useful as a separating film.
